Registries

From the "Safe at Home" confidential address program for certain vulnerable populations to the publication of the California Roster, the Registry of Domestic Partners, and the Advance Health Care Directive Registry, the Secretary of State's office provides a wide variety of unique services to Californians.

Safe at Home

Safe at Home logo

Safe at Home is a confidential address program for residents in California. Enrollment into the program allows the participants to keep their residential address off of various California public records. Participants are provided a substitute mailing address to use when applying for services with California state, county, and city government agencies. Additional information about eligibility, enrolling, and participant responsibility can be found here.

Advance Health Care Directive Registry

Advance Health Care Directive (AHCD) Registry maintains AHCDs, which allow a person to indicate to their loved ones and medical providers their medical treatment preferences if they cannot speak or make decisions for themselves. The AHCD may also designate someone else to make decisions regarding medical treatment. AHCDs and related information can be provided upon request to the registrant’s health care provider, public guardian or legal representative.

Domestic Partners Registry

The Domestic Partners Registry registers couples as domestic partners in California when they file a Declaration of Domestic Partnership. Registered domestic partners have the same rights, protections, and benefits, and are subject to the same responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law as are granted to and imposed upon spouses.
